How it works
A two-way (net) meter counts the units you take from the grid and the units your panels send to it. Each billing period, the units sent are subtracted from the units taken, and you pay only for the difference.
Extra units
If you send more than you take in a billing period, the company buys the extra at a low rate (about ₹2.25 a unit in Gujarat). Each unit you use yourself is worth ₹6–9, so a system that makes about as much as you use pays back fastest.
How big can my system be?
Up to your sanctioned load. For a bigger system, apply for a load increase first.
Things that change your savings
- Rainy months (June to September) make 25–40% less.
- Shade from water tanks, walls or nearby buildings cuts output a lot.
- The fixed charge stays on the bill even if your net units are zero.
